Phillips Waste Management turns to Isuzu for first 11-tonne skip loader
North Yorkshire-based skip hire company Phillips Waste Management has taken delivery of its first ever Isuzu truck, a versatile 11-tonne F110.240 mounted with a skiploader body, supplied by local dealer Thompson Commercials.
Opening for business in 2020 with a single truck and 20 skips, Phillips Waste Management has seen significant growth in the six years to now and operates more than 700 skips, providing a full remit of waste management services across East and North Yorkshire from its two sites in York and Selby.
Replacing a 12-tonne skiploader from another manufacturer, the new Isuzu was reportedly chosen to provide a more reliable, easy-to-manoeuvre option capable of servicing residential and commercial customers with limited access points, helping to support the company’s continued growth in domestic waste collection operations across Selby, York and the surrounding areas.
Emma Phillips, owner of Phillips Waste Management, said: “Our smaller skiploaders play a vital role in supporting some of our trickier-to-reach customers. After experiencing repeated downtime with our previous truck, we wanted a reliable, agile and dependable replacement that would stay on the road as our operations continue to grow. Isuzu has ticked those boxes from day one, with the truck delivering a great first impression. Our driver has been very happy with its handling and overall performance.
“Joe Uttley and the team at Thompson Commercials were fantastic to work with throughout the process. We looked at several options, but Isuzu stood out because of its compact footprint and excellent manoeuvrability. It is perfectly suited for sites with tight access, where it will spend most of its time.”
Phillips Waste Management operates a 10-strong commercial vehicle fleet, with its other vehicles plated between 16- and 32-tonnes, and used to manage larger jobs, including construction and demolition operations.
The new Isuzu 11-tonner will be primarily deployed for residential work, which comprises around 30 per cent of the company’s customer base. It will deliver and collect 2- and 4-yard skips frequently used for house clearances, garden projects, home refurbishments, and general household waste. On the road five days per week, the new truck is expected to travel at least 30,000 miles annually.
The chassis is supplied with the manufacturer’s three-year unlimited mileage warranty which includes 24/7 roadside assistance as standard, and supported by Isuzu Truck Customer Care team and their comprehensive Dealer Network.
