Transporter training options from VTT

Vehicle Transporter Training (VTT) has been trading as a car transporter-specific training provider since 2015, offering driver certification and structured training modules to address risk and improve safety.

Over this period, VTT has worked with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and DVSA as well as leading manufacturers and insurance providers, the company says, thereby ensuring the highest standards and support for its customers.

The modules include new driver training, a two-day ‘train the trainer’ course, and a half-day higher level driver assessment called VTT Certified, covering safe loading, personal safety and driving assessment using a specific safe system of work.

VTT also offers specialist acclimatisation services to operators receiving new transporters, to ensure their drivers are fully aware of the deck and system operations, thereby avoiding damage and improving operational reliability.

Simon Scaife, business director at VTT, said: “These modules have been developed using my 30 years of industry experience, along with guidance from the HSE, AJ Gallagher insurance and leading manufacturers.”

The finished modules provide the driver with safe loading and personal safety training to help prevent personal injury and reduce claims, says VTT, as well as reducing vehicle damage costs, and provides the operator with a signed safe system of work via the driver’s acknowledgement of his/her responsibilities.

All training modules are fully accredited by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, while VTT’s own specific Driver CPC courses have received full accreditation from JAUPT, providing drivers with up-to-date legal compliance and safe loading instruction and advice for their role, rather than generic information.

VTT offers two specific safe loading DCPC courses aimed at the vehicle logistics industry.  One is a ‘one-to-one’ course, which is a full day and incorporates the VTT Certified module as well as drivers’ hours and a SAFED (Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving) module; and the other is a group safe loading and legal compliance course. The courses utilise classroom and practical instruction.

Able to support all fleet sizes, VTT says it continues to develop bespoke training and certification programmes to be delivered to drivers with the minimum of disruption to their customers’ operation.
