Renault Trucks prepares to hit 2025 VECTO targets
The 2025 Renault Trucks Range T, C and K models incorporate changes to assist the Volvo Group subsidiary in meeting the EU’s VECTO standards, which demand a reduction in fuel consumption of 25 per cent from 2019’s figures.
From the introduction of the turbo-compound engine two years ago, which delivers fuel savings of up to 10 per cent by recovering waste energy from the exhaust stream, Renault Trucks is continuing to make its vehicles more energy-efficient, with the 2025 heavy-duty models offering additional fuel savings of up to three per cent.
The manufacturer has optimised various components of the powertrain, including gearboxes and axles, and will introduce the fitting of what Renault Trucks calls class A+ tyres as standard. The tyres’ efficacy in off-road conditions when fitted to Range C and K models will no doubt be a matter of interested debate in the industry.
Additionally, the Renault Trucks T, T High, and Renault Trucks E-Tech T models now feature cameras in place of rear-view mirrors, further improving aerodynamics and helping to cut fuel consumption. These rear-view cameras, housed in folding wings, are connected to two in-cab screens that display the environment around the vehicle and feature an infrared mode to facilitate night vision.
This system is also available as an option on Renault Trucks C, K and Renault Trucks E-Tech C models.
Beyond fuel economy, the 2025 trucks can be specified with an adjustable power steering system, which enhances vehicle stability at high speeds while offering more responsive steering at low speeds, making manoeuvring easier in urban and suburban environments. This system combines hydraulic power-steering with an electric motor, using sensors to adjust the steering effort in real time based on the truck’s movements and the driver’s intentions. Other options for 2025 include lane-keeping with corrective steering, automatic high-beam activation, and additional rear worklamps.
The 2025 Renault Trucks T, T High C, K ranges and the electric Renault Trucks E-Tech T, and C, are available now from the manufacturer’s network.
