Hireco innovations accelerate green transition

Fleet solutions provider Hireco says it is taking bold steps to push sustainability in the transport sector, combining its commitment to green vehicle solutions with a cutting-edge used asset programme designed to extend vehicle lifecycles and reduce environmental impact.

Simultaneously, the company is innovating across trailer and LCV technology, integrating solar power and advanced AI-driven fleet intelligence to drive efficiency while lowering emissions.

“Fleet operators need real-world solutions that reduce costs without sacrificing efficiency,” said James Smith, group CEO at Hireco.

“We’re not just talking about the future – we’re delivering it. Our goal is to help businesses transition away from traditional diesel-dependent transport with innovative, sustainable solutions that work today.”

To support this transition, Hireco has invested heavily in AI-powered fleet management systems, allowing customers to optimise vehicle utilisation, reduce fuel consumption, and predict maintenance needs before issues arise.

By combining real-time telematics, predictive analytics, and automated decision-making, the company says it can ensure fleets remain productive, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly.

A key part of Hireco’s investment in efficiency and sustainability is its new Maintenance Control Centre of Excellence in Mallusk. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to minimise unplanned downtime, says the firm, and provide a seamless maintenance experience for customers.

The centre utilises AI-driven diagnostics and predictive maintenance solutions, allowing Hireco to detect potential faults early and optimise servicing schedules – helping fleet operators avoid unexpected breakdowns and maximise vehicle lifespan.

Hireco is also reshaping how businesses lease light commercial vehicles (LCVs), offering flexible 12-month rental terms. This approach ensures operators are not locked into long-term contracts, it says, allowing them to adapt to evolving fuel technologies without financial risk. As the industry transitions towards electric and alternative fuel solutions, Hireco’s short-term model gives businesses the freedom to scale and upgrade their fleets as new technology becomes available.

Additionally, says Hireco, its used asset supermarket is revolutionising the resale of de-fleeted trucks, trailers, and LCVs.

This platform provides global reach to 76 right-hand-drive countries, and is said to allow businesses worldwide to purchase well-maintained, high-spec vehicles at competitive prices.

With digital showrooms, flexible finance options, AI-powered pricing models, and add-ons such as warranties and telematics, Hireco says it is making asset purchasing more accessible and efficient than ever.

Hireco’s commitment to green transport extends beyond just vehicles. The company is actively installing electric truck chargers at key locations and sourcing 100 per cent green electricity to power its facilities. It has also committed to reducing business travel by 60 per cent, significantly cutting down on flights and road miles, reinforcing its sustainability strategy.

“Our goal is to lead the industry in sustainable transport solutions, providing businesses with the tools they need to cut emissions while maintaining efficiency and profitability,” James Smith added.

“By investing in AI-driven fleet intelligence, next-generation maintenance solutions, and sustainable asset management, Hireco is ensuring a greener, more cost-effective future for fleet operators.”
