Mercedes-Benz eArocs electrifies construction sector

Mercedes-Benz Trucks has begun European sales of its new battery-electric eArocs 400, expanding its electric portfolio to include the construction segment at maximum GVWs of 37 and 44 tonnes. The 8×4 zero exhaust emissions, low-noise eArocs 400 had its world premiere last year at the Bauma show in Munich.

The chassis are suitable for vocational applications such as tipper and mixer. A 380 kW (continuous) 450 kW (peak) central motor drives an integrated three-speed transmission. Two LFP 207 kWh batteries are mounted in a tower behind the cab, which are claimed to have sufficient capacity for a full work shift in urban and near-road construction environments. Time from 10 to 80 per cent charge is claimed as 46 minutes via twin CCS2 chargers.

Customers in an initial 13 EU markets can now order the new model. From the third quarter of 2026, the base vehicle will be produced at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth am Rhein, Germany, followed by integration of the electric drivetrain by Paul Group, at Vilshofen an der Donau.
