Autonomous truck joins Scania RTX lineup

At this week’s Road Transport Expo, Scania will be showcasing a full range of vehicles from battery-electric to gas and diesel/HVO, as well as offering attendees a glimpse of the future with an autonomous truck.

Exhibiting on Stand B11 at NAEC Stoneleigh, the company will also promote a comprehensive suite of tailored service solutions, which it says can help customers maximise uptime and operational efficiency. This will take form as part of a new Scania Complete Solutions campaign.

“Scania is keen to showcase its full range of vehicles – the most powerful and efficient line-up it’s ever had,” said the company.

“From battery-electric vehicles through to gas and a variety of diesel/HVO options, there is a vehicle for every operator – no matter where they are on their decarbonisation journey.”

On display and at the Ride & Drive will be two examples from Scania’s battery electric vehicle range – in the form of a skip loader – 24 P and a tractor unit – 40 P. Scania’s battery electric range is now available with a variety of cabs, electric machines, axle lengths and vehicle and battery configurations, enabling flexibility via Scania’s trademark modular design.

Scania will also showcase the R460 6×2*4 CNG gas truck on the stand and at the Ride & Drive.

“Also on display will be Scania’s most efficient diesel engine ever – in 13-litre Super form. It offers strong performance with attractive fuel economy, thanks to some clever technology – including significant efficiency gains across the whole powertrain from the engine and gearbox to the rear axle,” the manufacturer added.

“Scania is giving visitors a glimpse of the future – by displaying one of the autonomous trucks from Scania’s viral feat with Red Bull last year. In a real display of innovation, Scania will be reliving the daring jump with Red Bull, where mountain biker Matt Jones leapt between two moving trailers being pulled by a pair of autonomously driven Scania trucks – without a driver inside.”

Scania’s subsidiary charging company, Erinion, will also be in attendance.

“Beyond showcasing their new bold branding, they will be demonstrating how they can help support, develop and build depot charging infrastructure to suit a customer’s needs,” said Scania.

Additionally, the manufacturer will launch a new campaign called ‘Behind Every Delivery’, which will proactively promote its total support services portfolio, aiming to provide customers with the servicing answers they need to achieve their goals and to help them avoid any maintenance pain points in their daily operations.
