10 years of success for Dr Air Brake VTC
Diagnostics specialist Dr Air Brake is celebrating the tenth anniversary of its Van Trailer Check (VTC) system, the mobile trailer service and diagnostics solution which tests lighting, ABS-EBS-CAN circuits and all trailer air brake systems.
The VTC system, which was the successor to the portable Trailer Check released in 2003, is used not only in the UK, but also in Australia and the Middle East, says the company – adding that, since its introduction, the lightweight, van-mounted system has seen further design improvements.
“We now offer a cheaper version without the wired remote control, which has proved popular with first time buyers who are working to a tight budget,” said the company.
“For large organisations we have always conducted annual calibrations of the gauges and generally servicing the equipment, but we noticed a number of fitters did not use the remote control, so we decided to offer just the basic machine, still packed with all the latest features, but with the option on the remote.”
With the money saved on the main unit, says Dr Air Brake, some new customers are now buying a package including its HD Jump Start, which offers 200A power for tail lifts, lifting decks and jump-starting trucks with flat batteries.
“The HD-JSU is fully automatic and when the van is driven between work sites it manages all the recharging of the leisure batteries through a built-in split charge circuit,” said the firm.
“There is a dedicated supply to the VTC, which recognises when 24v is required to power a trailer and switches over accordingly. As part of the package, we provide 4M Anderson leads for power connection to the trailer and battery croc clips for jump-starting vehicles.”
