IDS continues HVO fuel rollout
International Diesel Service (IDS) has announced it is underlining its commitment to more sustainable long-haul transport with the introduction of pure hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) fuel at three stations in Belgium.
IDS, part of the Q8 group, which focuses specifically on international hauliers, is making the 100 per cent fossil-free HVO100 fuel available at three fuel stations: Maasmechelen, Meer and as of this month, Herstal. All three stations are located on main international transport corridors close to the border with the Netherlands and Germany.
HVO is a premium diesel product made entirely from renewable raw materials, and is said to produce 30 per cent less particulate matter emissions, 9 per cent less nitrogen oxide (NOx) and 90 per cent less CO2 compared to regular diesel.
This pure HVO (HVO100) can perfectly be refuelled in ordinary diesel engines (EN15940), without any modifications being necessary.
IDS says it is strongly committed to HVO100 in order to anticipate on the market shift towards more sustainable fuel for long-haul transport. The move to offer the fuel in Belgium follows successful launches in Sweden and Denmark, where IDS offers HVO100 to its customers at more than 20 sites.
The firm says it hopes the new offering will make a significant contribution to reducing CO2 emissions from long distance traffic.

HVO100 expands IDS’ existing sustainable product range, comprising LNG, CNG and HVO20. Over 50 sites in the international IDS network offer sustainable fuels.
