Bosch boosts battery range with AGM technology
Bosch’s Automotive Aftermarket division has recently launched a new truck starter battery with AGM technology, said to meet the toughest demands in long-distance transport.
“Nowadays, modern commercial vehicles used in long-distance traffic are equipped with numerous comfort features improving the labour conditions for commercial drivers,” said the company.
“To make sure these features are supplied with enough power, even when stationary, the Bosch range of commercial vehicle batteries has now been complemented by the new and powerful TA AGM 12-volt starter battery.
“Bosch TA AGM supplies a large number of electrical consumers. It is installed in commercial vehicles during stationary operation for features such as parking cooler, parking heater, microwave or TV. This reduces breakdowns and therefore unnecessary downtime.”
The new TA AGM truck battery was specifically developed for demanding applications in long-distance traffic, says the firm.
“AGM stands for absorbent glass mat, where the acid is completely absorbed by microfibre glass mats. This makes the new battery completely leakproof and maintenance-free,” Bosch continued.
“Thanks to its high vibration resistance, it can also be installed at the back of the truck. With a discharge depth of up to 80 percent, TA AGM features a deep-cycle resistance, six times higher than conventional lead-acid batteries. This reduces the number of breakdowns caused by cyclic loads.
“Featuring a cold start performance of 1 200 A (CCA) and a capacity of 210 Ah, it supplies enough energy for safe cold starting and all comfort and hotelling functions.”
Thanks to the micro-cycle stability closely linked to AGM technology, it is also suitable for functions such as start/stop systems and sailing or coasting, says Bosch, without engine support.
“The new and powerful TA AGM battery complements Bosch’s existing range of commercial vehicle batteries – comprising EFB batteries and conventional lead-acid batteries – with a new and reliable premium product featuring original-equipment quality,” said the company.
