Butts puts pits in the spotlight
Inspection pits are among the products supplied by Butts of Bawtry, which has been providing the CV and PSV sector with workshop equipment for 50 years this year.
“We pride ourselves on offering a one-stop shop for all workshops, ensuring a great in-house turnkey operation, enabling the workshop owner to only have to deal with one contact person from start to end,” said Butts.
“We have been supplying bespoke inspection pits for many years now, using one of the best manufacturers in the UK coupled with the best builders. The end result is a beautifully designed, built and installed pit fitted exactly to the specification of the customer.
“Whether you need an ATF inspection pit or a service pit, we can offer a full service to design and make the pit to your exact specification.”
The firm added: “The pit vs lift argument has always been a big discussion in the industry. Pits offer the advantage of being able to be installed in a building with a lower roof height, as well as not needing any parts or maintenance every year, helping to keep costs down.
“A pit makes it possible to work underneath a vehicle at the same time as above, and are now available with built-in below-ground workshops.”
The company emphasises the safety of modern pits as a means of inspecting vehicles, “with lighting, fume extraction and electrics making them a much nicer place to work.”
Said Butts: “Our pits can be designed to include lighting, electrics, air and oil lines… Made in the UK to ATF specifications, they all include escape hatches and ladders to keep the user safe at all times.”
