Blue Crystal aids compliance for WS Fleet Services
Workshop operator WS Fleet Services has been utilising the RFM fleet maintenance and management package from Blue Crystal Solutions to help it keep on top of fleet compliance, costs and invoicing of new retail work.
Blue Crystal reports that several of its customers are now separating their workshop activities from their main businesses, allowing them to open for partner and retail work. WS Transportation and its maintenance arm, WS Fleet Services, is one such example.
WS Transportation has been a customer of Blue Crystal for over six years, and the RFM system has been used as a complete maintenance package for its own fleet. Now, the system is being deployed for both internal and retail purposes.
Discussing the separation of the workshop business, WS Fleet Services operations manager Andrew Langdon explained: “The timing was right for WS to do this as business, so the decision was made; the Blue Crystal RFM system has been pivotal to that movement and allowed us to continue providing the service to the same if not better standards.
“We have been able to become our own business and the level of service provided to our sister companies has been increased, not only in downtime but cost as well.”
He continued: “The RFM system itself is a great tool for workshop management; we control all our job cards, parts/stock, staff and suppliers with it. Everything is clear, easy to use and reportable. The job card section in particular is very professional and easy to use.”
On whether other operators should consider a digital system, Andrew added: “The time is now; with everyone favouring the use of electronic service sheets and invoicing it’s a no brainer to use a system as good as RFM.”
In addition to using the CoWorks PC system, WS has also adopted a paperless workflow using the RFMGo application, allowing technicians to complete all job cards and inspection sheets digitally.
Parts and stock have also been a key area of focus for WS, whose maintenance team uses Blue Crystal’s parts panel to ensure the stores are kept up to date and parts are booked out quickly and efficiently.
