On-site washing with PVC Vendo

PVC Vendo, which recently gained its Safe Contractor accreditation, is now in its 41st year of providing commercial vehicle washing services to UK businesses.

“We can service customers across the majority of the United Kingdom,” said the company.

“Our customers range from small businesses with five-plus small vans, to national brands running large fleets of vehicles. Our current clients include FedEx, DHL, G4S, BOC and Royal Mail. For the convenience of our larger customers we offer centralised invoicing, reducing administrative time for our clients’ depots across the country.”

PVC Vendo operatives visit customers at their yards or depots to wash their vehicles using a high-pressured water system housed in their vans. Washing takes place at a time of the client’s choosing including evenings and weekends. The wash is a three or four-step process depending on when the vehicle was last washed and how dirty it is.

“Firstly we wet the sides of the vehicle then apply a traffic film remover solution which lifts the grit from the surface of the vehicle,” the company continued.

“If the vehicle has not been washed in a long time or is particularly dirty, we go over it manually with a telescopic broom to further lift the dirt. Finally we use the high-pressure water system to remove all dirt and leave the vehicle clean and ready to go back on the road again.

If the client has a dedicated washing area and a Consent to Discharge license the waste water simply drains away into the allocated drains as we wash. Regardless, before we wash, we insert a removable drain to catch any debris coming off the vehicle and prevent drain blockage.

“If such a washing area does not exist, or the client does not have convenient access to a foul sewer point, we block up surrounding drains to stop contamination, wash the vehicles then guide the dirty water to a specific point and pump it back out into portable carriers that we remove from site, to be disposed of at a location with a Disposal Licence.

“In line with the environmental department regulations, PVC Vendo hold a Waste Carrier’s Licence to move this waste water.”

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic we introduced Saniclean, an optional add-on service, that disinfects the inside of cabs, immediately killing the coronavirus and ensuring a safe and clean cab for the next driver,” the company added.

“Using bespoke software operated via a smart device, our operatives are able to inform the client the moment their vehicles have been washed and disinfected, meaning a quick turnaround for the vehicle and seamless communications with our client.

Recently we have acquired a part share of Mr Tacho, meaning our operatives are now able to offer both vehicle washing and a professional, manual tachograph analysis service.”
