CVW: boost resale value with a wrap
There are a host of known benefits to wrapping a vehicle, says Creative Vehicle Wrapping: it is an effective and relatively low-cost advertising medium (reaching up to 65,000 people per day), is great for brand awareness (85 per cent of people remember what they saw on a vehicle wrap), plus a wrapped vehicle is easier to clean and keep clean.
However, a lesser-known benefit, says the firm, is how good quality vinyl can protect vehicle assets against the elements and preserve the paintwork beneath.
Jonathan Thomas, director at CVW, explained: “Vehicles are a significant investment, and need to be protected to look good and perform well for as long as possible. We use only the highest quality vinyl, which is strong enough to protect the vehicle it is applied to, particularly from the elements.
“Sun, wind, extreme temperatures, and scratches are the primary enemies to a vehicle’s appearance. Exposure over time causes rust and damage and can compromise the body of the vehicle.
“We use only the highest quality vinyl, which is guaranteed for 5-7 years. When it is removed the vehicle paintwork is ‘as new’ underneath. There is no ghosting i.e., when you can see a previous imprint of the graphics. It literally takes years off the vehicle and as a result increases the resale value. In most cases you will more than recover the cost of the wrap.”
The paintwork needs to be in good condition to begin with prior to wrapping, advises CVW, adding that inferior quality vinyl or lack of proper vehicle care has given vinyl wrapping a poor reputation in some quarters. Leaving a vehicle covered in road grease and dirt for prolonged periods can weaken the vinyl and using abrasive cleaners can damage the wrap, says the firm.
Jonathan Thomas also highlights what he says is a common misconception: that you can’t change a wrap once it has been installed on your vehicle.
“It’s not true that you can’t alter any part of a wrap once we’ve installed it, to update or change messages, for example,” he said.
“The quality and adaptability of the vinyl we use means that we often change sections of wraps as required by customers. These ‘updates’ are seamless on the vehicle, don’t affect the integrity of the wrap and usually cost around 50 per cent of the cost of a full wrap.”
The Cannock-based commercial vehicle wrapping company says it can wrap any vehicle however complex, from concrete mixers and tipper vehicles to refuse vehicles and tractor units.
