HJS issues retrofit reminder as ULEZ expands
HJS Emission Technology has reminded LCV fleets operating in Greater London that they may shortly face new daily emissions charges for non-compliant vehicles, following the Mayor of London’s recent announcement that the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) will expand across all London boroughs on 29 August this year.
“HJS Emission Technology offer the technology required to enable drivers of non-compliant Euro 5 light commercial vehicles to upgrade to Euro 6 emission standards through the installation of a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) exhaust system,” said the company.
“This technology vastly reduces emissions from diesel vehicles allowing operators and owners to charge free access into the ULEZ and clean air zones (CAZs) being introduced throughout the UK.
“The good news for owners of non-compliant vehicles is that as part of the ULEZ extension, the Mayor of London also announced a retrofit support and vehicle scrappage scheme which can provide a grant to successful applicants meeting a specific criteria.
“The HJS SCR system for LCV applications has been tested and approved in compliance with the Energy Saving Trust’s Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme (CVRAS).”
CVRAS Approvals for the HJS technology are already in place for the following Euro 5 LCV/van applications: Volkswagen Transporter T5 including campervan and shuttle variants; Renault Master; Vauxhall Movano; Nissan NV400; Mercedes-Benz Vito and Viano; Mercedes-Benz Sprinter; Peugeot E7 taxi; Citroën Dispatch Combi; Fiat Scudo Combi; Toyota Proace; LTI Taxi TX4; Land Rover Defender; Ford Transit; and Volkswagen Crafter.
“Specifically developed for these LCV applications, the SCR exhaust system and AdBlue dosing system is supplied as an add-on to the vehicle’s original factory fitted diesel particulate filter (DPF),” said HJS.
“The system operates independently from the vehicle’s original electronic systems and is normally installed within one day.”
