Hella lights the way with Black Magic LEDs

Vehicle technology provider Hella’s auxiliary lighting range includes the new Black Magic LED series, whose combination of power and styling is said to make it ideal both for on-road safety and offroad visibility.

The initial range of first-generation lightbars, which were for offroad applications, has been extended to include 14 lightbars with ECE approval R149 for use as auxiliary headlamps for on-road use, and another 18 offroad versions.

“Hella Black Magic auxiliary headlamps provide a very powerful light output and depending on the version, they deliver up to 9,200 (with ECE approval) or 20,000 (for offroad applications) lumens, making them ideal for situations in which the best possible illumination of the surroundings is essential,” said the company.

“Both the single-row (‘Slim’) and ‘Double Row’ lightbars are available in straight and curved versions. The curved versions are characterised by a convex curvature and provide a particularly wide light distribution, but whatever the model, with their distinctive look and all-black design, offer a high recognition effect and an eye-catching appeal for any offroad vehicle, SUV or truck.”

The ECE versions are available from seven to 40 inches in length. The product series complies with EMC protection in accordance with ECE-R10, has all the necessary protection classes and is therefore dustproof and resistant to high pressure cleaners. The operating voltage is 10-30 volts and the products feature an extra-strong, two-metre-long cable.

In addition to the ECE series, the pure offroad range has further expanded with a total of 18 new variants in ‘Slim’ and ‘Double Row’ designs, which are also available in both straight and curved versions.

Available from 20 to 52 inches in length, the offroad Black Magic lightbars also feature an integrated thermal sensor that allows them to be adjusted to the ambient temperature.

“This new feature not only prevents overheating or LED failure, but also increases light output when the ambient temperature is low. This gives the user the ideal amount of light under all conditions,” said Hella.

“In total, Hella now offers 40 lightbars individually or as a set, so providing the right lightbar for every mounting location on the vehicle, whether roof, roof bar, radiator grille or bumper, and they all can be mounted either upright or suspended.

“Completely black with discreet Hella branding, the Black Magic series brings a special design highlight to any vehicle and black additional brackets, for rear mounting, are also available as accessories as part of the series. These provide additional stability for all lightbars from 40 inches in length by means of four-point mounting, but they can also be used instead of the side brackets to make optimum use of a vehicle’s mounting surfaces.”

Black Magic auxiliary lights are available as cubes, lightbars and mini-lightbars.
