Cummins launches back-of-cab fuel tank for gas engines

Cummins Clean Fuel Technologies, a joint venture between the engine manufacturer and Rush Technologies, has launched a new gas fuel system which features
a slim single tank slotted behind the truck’s cab rather than a collection of reservoirs hanging from the chassis.

The rectangular tanks have lightweight extruded aluminium frames and aerodynamic tops. They are available in 135 and 175 US gal volumes.

When sold with a Cummins X15N natural gas engine, the tank and its associated systems will have the same two-year warranty cover as the engine itself.

Fitting the tank behind the cab frees chassis space, and theoretically allows the use of gas engines for a wider range of vehicle types including 6×2 tractors and off-highway vehicles.
