Jost GB set to aid fleets with LST rollout
CV technology supplier Jost GB has said it is ready to support customers wishing to take advantage of recent relaxations around the use of longer semi-trailers (LSTs) which took effect from 31 May.
LSTs, which are part of government efforts to grow the economy and reduce CO2 emissions, employ a steering axle to ensure compliant turning circles are maintained for regulatory purposes.
Danny Broomfield, Jost GB managing director, explained that the company is able to offer complete axle suspensions in disc and drum brake format with fully compliant steering options, which will provide a full range of solutions that the end-user/customer can specify.
“Jost is able to offer the complete steering solution with our sister company Tridec; this gives customers and fleets alike one point of sales, technical support and warranty for all steering and axle options in conforming to the regulatory demands of LSTs,” he said.
Examples of the solutions the company is able to supply to ensure compliance with new LST regulations include rear-steer options through the Jost brand, and mechanical, electronic and hydraulic command steer options through Tridec. The result is a complete solution from a single provider when it comes to specifying long trailers, says Jost GB.
Danny Broomfield concluded: “Longer trailers will move the same volume of goods using eight per cent fewer journeys than current trailers – good news for productivity, efficiency and the environment. We are looking forward to working with operators as they look to utilise the opportunity of LSTs in their fleets.”
