Travelstar fuels smarter with CTS
Coach operator Travelstar European has been optimising its operations through the monitoring of fuel use with the Piusi B.Smart fuel management system from Centre Tank Services (CTS), from the remote control of fuel access to the receipt of real-time refuelling transaction reports.
As a UK-based transport company with a fleet of over 40 vehicles, Travelstar European hires out its vehicles to travel companies, and works alongside some of the biggest tour operators in the UK. As the business was expanding and it was predominantly working with agency drivers, it wanted to gain full control over the fleet and begin accurately monitoring fuel usage.
“The coach depot at the time was set up with two dispensing pumps, and whilst the system was in good condition and worked effectively, it lacked security, and manually tracking the dispensed fuel was time-consuming and hard to monitor,” said CTS.
“Travelstar had never used a fuel management system before, but they were now realising the great benefits of a retrofit system and how they could apply these benefits to their business, so they began looking for a cost-effective, high-quality solution that would allow them to monitor fuel use in real time – which led them to the Piusi B.Smart.”
After an initial discussion, Centre Tank Services identified that Travelstar wanted to be able to view up-to-date refuelling transaction reports by date, the quantity of fuel taken, and the driver, vehicle, and dispenser details. The coach depot also wanted to remotely control who could dispense the fuel by adding and removing driver access to the pump.
Given the fuel security concerns and the importance of real-time fuel monitoring, the Centre Tank Services team suggested that two MC Box B.Smart Fuel Management Systems were retrofitted to existing diesel pumps.
After considering all the technical advice and listening to how the Piusi B.Smart system works, Travelstar European placed the order. An engineer from Centre Tank Services attended site for the installation and retrofitted the B.Smart management systems onto the wall next to the dispensing units, as requested. The system was then set up so that the coach depot could start using it straight away, and whilst on-site, the engineer also trained the employees on how to use the Piusi B.Smart online portal and mobile app.
By using the driver’s smartphone app to enable dispensing and send the data to the online portal after it is complete, the B.Smart lets managers monitor their fleets’ fuel use in real time wherever they are.
Key benefits of the system highlighted by CTS include suitability for any size fleet, with users able to monitor any number of fuel dispensers across multiple geographical locations in a single portal; access to real-time transaction data including driver, vehicle, date and fuel quantity via the cloud; the ability to remotely enable and disable pump access to control who can dispense; and access to the web portal from any PC, tablet or smartphone.
The B.Smart system utilises the industry-known Piusi dispensers, said to be easy for drivers to use. No software installation is required, and there are no ongoing hosting fees.
