Fifth wheel expertise from Fontaine

The company’s range includes the new 3000FFH dual height standard duty fifth wheel, which it says allows both mega-trailers and conventional trailers to be towed using just one truck with a fast and simple height adjustment.
The dual height fifth wheel incorporates easy fast change functionality. The low height is at 167mm and there are three options of high height; 267, 317 or 367mm.
Tested to 18T imposed load (U) and 130kN D-value and certified to ECE R 55-01, the unit utilises a Fontaine 3000 cast fifth wheel. The mechanism release is available in manual or air operated variants.
Also available is the 170SF heavy duty sliding fifth wheel, which is said to allow for a heavier payload without the need to over-specify costly super-heavy duty sliders.
Designed to 25T imposed load (U) and 170kN D-value and certified to ECE R 55-01, it utilises a Fontaine 170CI cast fifth wheel with standard DIN 6 mounting brackets, and is suitable for 60T – 90T gross combination weight applications (D-value permitting). It features a 40mm high slider base and the mechanism release can be manual or air-operated.
