Shell expands AdBlue supply network

shellpwFuelling products supplier Shell has said it plans to expand its network of stations at which AdBlue is available from the pump, in anticipation of increased demand over the coming years.

Phil Williams, head of Shell Commercial Fleet UK (pictured), said: “The world is changing for haulage operators. They now face stricter CO2 emissions legislation and a growing need to demonstrate their business’s environmental credentials.

“We expect demand for AdBlue to pick up in the next 1-3 years as new legislation will make fleet maintenance an ever more vital consideration for fleets.”

He said that the stricter limits on pollutant levels introduced with Euro 6 emissions standards in January 2014 had impacted on the way vehicles are maintained, as well as how they are manufactured.

“Used together with a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) converter, AdBlue has a significant impact on the level of nitrogen oxides (NOx) diesel emissions by converting the pollutant gases into harmless nitrogen and water.

“This innovative solution helps customers to cut harmful emissions levels and helps businesses to be on the front foot with their fleet.”

Shell offers AdBlue at service stations across the UK in packs of 1.5L and 10L.

“Thirty-nine of our stations in the UK have AdBlue available from the pump,” said Williams, “and we are looking to strengthen our network through expanding to another 18 sites this year.”

The company says its strong UK and international network of fuel stations provides it with an advantage over competitor suppliers.

“It’s simple to pay using the euroShell Card, which enables customers to see all major expenses on one bill,” Williams added.
