Testing expertise from VLT
VL Test Systems (VLT) provides a full portfolio of vehicle testing solutions, and is best known for its roller brake testing equipment, which is widely used by transport and logistics operators, emergency services and bus/coach operators, as well as the Ministry of Defence.
“New and returning customers have reaped the benefits of our world-class roller brake testers (RBTs), with many complementing their purchase and going for the full lane with headlight beam tester, wheel play detectors and pit jacks,” said the company.
The RBTs are designed, developed and manufactured at VLT’s purpose-built Netherlands factory. They feature premium grade steel on the rollers; and new brake testers come with a five-year warranty on motors and gearboxes.
“Only the best materials are used to produce the products within the ISO9001 certified plant and that is why we have brake testers still performing into their third decade, having returned their investment value many times over,” VLT continued.
Its RBTs can test the braking systems of wheeled vehicles with axle load of up to 16,000kg (VLT 16733 models) or 20,000kg (VLT 20733 models).
“Our knowledge and expertise means that we have an RBT solution for all test classes and we meet all DVSA requirements for ATF testing lanes,” said VLT.
“Our brake testers are built to last, with heavy duty high performance motors, heavy duty roller sets, and the sub frames and brake casings are hot dip galvanised to provide protection for life.”
The brake tester measures time lag, braking force, bind (drag), ovality and imbalance; and vehicle information is retrieved from the DVSA database whenever possible.
“Out on the road, our RBT engineers have been supporting our customers to maximise uptime and keep the vehicles and trailers on the road, and not in the workshop.”
The company’s extensive UK network of engineers ensures the mean repair time is kept very low, says VLT, especially since journey times are minimal.
“Our investment in vehicles and van stock clearly demonstrates that our customers remain the focus of our business; and all supplied from our purpose built headquarters and warehouse in Buckingham.”
DVSA-approved wireless tachograph calibration add-ons are also available for VLT RBTs, which are said to be easy to use and to deliver precise measurements with maximum accuracy thanks to the use of a laser detector.
“The tacho add-on works with all types of tachograph, and calibration of a vehicle takes less than two minutes,” said the firm.
A variety of associated products and services are available, including authorised testing facility (ATF) lanes, civil and installation works, service and calibration, and parts supply. MAN, Scania, Volvo and many independent hauliers have chosen the manufacturer as their benchmark for full commercial test centres, VLT adds.
“All equipment is authorised by DVSA for testing and with the assistance of our technical sales team, we can assure you of not only a comprehensive choice of equipment to suit your needs, but a truly professional installation and step-by-step guidance to training on each particular equipment,” it concluded.
