Easy diagnosis from Dr Air-Brake

Dr Air-Brake supplies a range of testing and diagnostics products, including the Van Trailer Check (VTC), a so-called ‘tractor unit in a box’, which is said to reduce the time taken to service an HGV trailer.

“Avoiding the need for a tractor unit to run and thereby eliminating associated fumes and noise, brake testing is a one-man job with VTC,” said the company.

“CAN lines, EBS checks and all lights can be tested. VTC Lite and Full VTC variants are available.”

New to the range is a wireless remote for the VTC system. It allows users to walk around the vehicle whilst operating lights and brakes, and monitors air at the wheel via its air input port. It can also be used to activate the unit’s service brake while at the wheel to aid identification of slack or other issues.

The remote can monitor and record max voltage gain while under and working on the trailer, and checks tractor unit EBS warning lights. It comes with a built-in rechargeable battery which lasts up to three months on one charge.

Also available is the Code Talk II, which is said to represent a quick and easy means of identifying trailer faults, while saving money thanks to the ability to perform in-house diagnostics.

The standalone device requires no monthly subscription, and the system works on all trailer manufacturers. The plug-and-play system does not require multiple dongles. It can display wheel speeds, voltages and air pressure.

Further diagnostics products in the range include the Trailer Check portable power box kit, purpose-built for conducting thorough assessments of a trailer’s lighting, ABS+EBS circuits, and CAN line.

“Incorporating rechargeable internal batteries and employing intelligent power management, this system possesses the capacity to conduct numerous trailer tests before prompting a recharge, signified by an audible alert,” said the firm.

“Furthermore, its design seamlessly integrates all cables within, ensuring a compact and easily transportable unit that functions being connected to a tractor unit.”
