Bremco technology aligns with Spectrum expansion

Equipment provider Bremco has recently installed its  latest electronic wheel alignment system for truck and van at West Thurrock-based Spectrum VR Essex, alongside an electronic chassis measuring kit for light to heavy commercial vehicle applications.

The Haweka Axis4000 wheel alignment system is said to enable real-time, fast and highly accurate measurements. It measures total and single toe, steering gear middle position, caster, camber, KPI, thrust angle and maximum steering turn, as well as out of squareness and offset of the axles.

Measurement takes place in an ‘as driven position’ – there is no need to lift up the vehicle – while different designs of magnetic feet ensure fast fitting to steel rims.

The patented ProClamp clamping device with grapplers is said to be ideal for aluminium rims. 360°rotating camera measuring heads guarantee instantaneous recording of actual data, and the adjustment is immediately displayed on the monitor. The printout shows the before and after readings and setting values. The readings are recorded by radio transmission directly onto the printout.

For lorries and buses, the use of camera technology significantly simplifies wheel alignment and adjustments to these vehicles can be carried out speedily, says Bremco. An upgrade set for trailer wheel alignment is also available.

Specially cushioned ‘softline’ feet mean that transporter wheels can also be simply and easily aligned using this system, adds Bremco; and even vehicles with double steering axles can be aligned quickly simply with two additional turn plates.

The chassis measuring system was the CMC4000 full electronic PC-based camera radio system, said to enable wireless, quick and precise frame alignment for commercial vehicles.

This new system was delivered to strengthen and streamline the vehicle measuring capabilities at Spectrum VR Essex, one of two sites operated by Spectrum VR Group. The Essex and Kent-based commercial vehicle bodyshop group is continuing with a £6m redevelopment of part of its existing Thurrock site to add another 19,000 sq. ft. and new head office to its existing LCV/HGV and bus repair capacity.

This new multi-million-pound site will feature an energy efficient external envelope with high thermal performance and a high air tightness rating. The building strategically focuses on renewable energy, with the roof allowing for maximum quantity of photovoltaic panels to ensure reduced operating costs.

Completion at the new site is planned for October, and it is set to become operational during November 2024.
