Van manufacturer Nissan says it is giving business and fleet operators even more choice when it comes to zero emissions mobility, with the All-New Interstar-e now on sale.

Already approved for the government’s existing Plug-in Van Grant, the Interstar-e is positioned at the top of Nissan’s LCV range, offering a larger alternative to the popular Townstar EV.

“Two battery sizes are available – a cost-effective 40kWh version for urban delivery-focused users, or a ‘long range’ 87kWh option for those travelling further afield,” said Nissan.

“The latter gets an impressive rapid charging speed of 130kW, helping top up its 285-mile range in a matter of minutes. Meanwhile, the fast AC 22kW charger comes as standard (or 11kW for the smaller battery) meaning a charge from 10 to 100 per cent can be achieved in less than four hours.

“Load space is generous for an electric van too, with capacities ranging from 10.8m3 in the L2H2 version, all the way up to 14.8m3 in the L3H3. Those with more demanding use cases will appreciate the Interstar-e too, with the 4.0T version supporting over 1.6 tonnes of payload.”

Launching alongside a conventional diesel-powered version, the Interstar-e gets all the latest  Nissan comfort and safety technology too, the company says.

“Forward emergency braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, intelligent speed assistance with traffic sign recognition  and more are all included, whilst the addition of a new ‘1-box’ hydraulic brake system provides more consistent braking – no matter the payload of the van.

“Not forgetting that the All-New Interstar and Interstar-e have both been awarded with the highest Platinum Safety Rating by Euro NCAP, making it one of the safest vehicles in its segment.”

Available in two grades – Acenta and Tekna – all Interstar-e models feature air conditioning, a 10-inch multi-media system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with rear parking sensors and more.

Higher-grade Tekna models get an upgrade to automatic climate control, a heated windscreen, a rear camera, and the addition of front and side parking sensors providing 360 degrees detection while manoeuvring.

As with the diesel-powered Interstar, all-electric models are also available in a variety of body types – panel van, dropside or Luton van, while chassis and platform cab versions are also available for conversion use cases.

Those looking to spread ownership over a number of years will welcome Nissan’s standard five-year warranty too, which includes roadside assistance for the duration, with the Interstar-e also benefiting from a battery warranty of eight years.
