aide: protecting reefers with anti-siphons

Equipment provider aide automotive has warned that changes to the law in 2022 requiring white diesel to be used in transport refrigeration unit fuel tanks may make them a more lucrative target for thieves.

“Theft of fuel from refrigerated trailers can hit operators in the pocket twice,” said the company.

“The cost of replacing the stolen diesel is a financial frustration, but the potential loss of the trailer’s load could be catastrophic. With a fuel gauge on the tank, an opportunist thief has the ideal target.”

The company offers an anti-siphon solution for refrigerated HGV trailers which it says is simple to fit. Customers include temperature-controlled distribution specialist Reed Boardall, which has ordered more than 500 reefer trailer anti-siphons.

In addition to its anti-siphon devices to guard against fuel theft, and trailer locks for heightened security, aide automotive’s product range includes HGV brake testing equipment, trailer EBS testers, EBS/ABS sensor testers and diagnostic tools for truck and trailer.

It additionally supplies Midtronics battery testers to ensure batteries are in optimal condition, ISOCheck for monitoring ISO sockets, and auto braking reversing systems for enhanced safety.
