Third Alexander Dennis Enviro400 in three years for Aintree Coachline
Bus manufacturer Alexander Dennis has supplied a new Enviro400 double-decker to independent English operator Aintree Coachline.
The bus has been bought for a prestigious contract with Merchant Taylors’ School, a private boys’ and girls’ school in Crosby, Liverpool.
It is the 11th new Alexander Dennis bus Aintree Coachline has bought since 1996, and joins two other Enviro400 double-deckers currently in the fleet, purchased in 2022 and 2023.
The bus has been bought for its high passenger capacity, with 85 belted seats. As well as the school contract, the bus will be used for private hire and other high-capacity work.
Painted in red, with interior trim to match, like previous purchases the bus has a personalised number plate that uses the initials of both the business and its director John Cherry.
The handover took place at the manufacturer’s factory in Scarborough, where the bus was built.
Simon Wood, regional sales manager for Alexander Dennis, said: “It’s always a pleasure for us to work with Aintree Coachline. They take a great deal of pride in their fleet, and spend time and effort specifying the interior and making sure the vehicle is just right. Choosing to make this repeat investment with us reflects really well on our product and support. Thank you John and the team for trusting us again with your high-capacity fleet needs.”
John Cherry, founder and director of Aintree Coachline, said: “Once again Alexander Dennis has delivered us a high-quality, high-capacity bus that represents great value for money. The team at Alexander Dennis are always very good to deal with, and knowing the level of aftercare support gives us total peace of mind in purchasing.
“The bus is for a high-profile contract, and I’m confident the customer will be more than happy with it.”
Founded by John Cherry in 1986, Aintree Coachline runs an attractive fleet of 35 buses and coaches on mixed work from its base in Maghull. The business will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year.
