Tailor-made brake pads from Textar
Braking brand Textar, part of TMD Friction, is expanding its range to incorporate brake pads for light commercial vehicles including the Ford Transit Custom, Ford Tourneo Custom, Ford Ranger and VW Amarok.
The models covered by the expansion bring significantly more mass to the road than classic passenger cars, TMD Friction points out – and in addition, they are often heavily loaded, tow trailers, have powerful engines, or are intended for demanding off-road or commercial use.
The result, says the firm, is high thermal and mechanical stress on the brake system and above-average demands on the friction material.
“For heavy, powerful vehicles, we advise automotive professionals to pay particular attention to quality when selecting replacement parts,” explained Scott Irwin, head of technical training at TMD Friction.
“As the heart of the brake system, the brake pads in such models must meet the highest standards. Tailor-made brake pad formulations which are individually adapted to the vehicle, its braking system, and its intended use contribute significantly to safely coping with the special stresses and strains required by these vehicles.”
Highlighted features of the new pads in the range, which also covers Ford Bronco and Porsche Macan SUVs, include model-specific friction materials for OE-quality braking performance, high temperature resistance for consistent performance under heavy loads, and optimised pedal feel for consistent braking force.
Further cited benefits include durable friction pad compound despite demanding application profiles, improved emissions, and noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) optimisation in accordance with current standards.
“Garages can restore braking feel and performance after brake wear with tailor-made Textar pads by precisely fitting replacement parts that have been specially developed by for the toughest driving applications – vans in heavy use, powerful off-road vehicles, or high-powered premium SUVs,” said TMD Friction.
The company supplies both OE and aftermarket braking components, including through the Textar, Mintex, Don, Pagid, Cobreq and Bendix brands.
