Teletrac: how connected platforms can aid EV transition
Fleet management solutions provider Teletrac Navman has emphasised the role connected fleet management platforms can play in the transition to and management of electric vehicles.
“There are now AI powered platforms that give fleet managers all the information they need to be able to look at the full picture and make an informed choice – to begin transitioning now in a sustainable way, or to plan for it in the future,” said Barney Goffer, UK product manager at Teletrac Navman.
“By integrating with fleet management software, these platforms use smart algorithms to assess trip data and provide fleet managers with insight into the feasibility of switching to EV, including suitable vehicles in-market, total cost of ownership, fuel savings, environmental impact and required charging infrastructure.”
He added: “Then with technological advances in AI, businesses can also gain a competitive advantage by integrating fleet management software with the likes of enterprise resource planning systems to mobilise fleets and resources in a way that completely transforms the way they work.”
Teletrac Navman says its Electric Vehicle Evaluator (EVE) combines with fleet management platforms to give fleet managers the means to transition effectively.
“EVE analyses a wide range of telematics data including trip data, vehicle duty cycles, the type of roads travelled, and dwell times. It then feeds that analysed data in three pivotal features that will allow fleet managers to drive the transition towards reduced carbon emissions for their business.”
These include a feasibility planner, allowing managers to identify fleet vehicles to transition to electric, plus cost-efficient combinations of battery types and charger powers. An infrastructure design feature models the most cost-effective approach to charging, while a financial planner offers detailed cost analysis of internal combustion versus electric vehicles.
