Fernwood Transport strengthens fleet with 12 Renault Trucks

Nottinghamshire-based operator Fernwood Transport has taken delivery of 12 Renault Trucks T480 6X2 trucks, supplied by RH Commercial Vehicles, as part of a strategic renewal programme. The new vehicles replace older units and are said to ensure improved efficiency and driver comfort across operations.

Fernwood Transport was formed in 1983 and is a well-established operator within the UK’s stevedoring, solid fuel and bulk road haulage sectors.

Fernwood Transport required a fleet tailored to modern performance and safety expectations. Existing vehicles were ready for replacement, prompting the need for trucks with enhanced safety systems, improved driver comfort and onboard facilities, greater fuel efficiency and reduced operating costs, as well as reliable aftersales support.

RH Commercial Vehicles supplied 12 Renault Trucks T480s, carefully specified to support Fernwood’s operational requirements and selected for their balance of performance, efficiency, and driver-focused design.

RH Commercial Vehicles highlights safety as a core strength of the Renault Trucks range, with a variety of advanced systems fitted as standard, including emergency braking systems and electronic parking brakes.

The cab has been designed to provide a practical and comfortable working environment for drivers. Included in the cab is the ‘comfort’ driver’s seat with ventilation and adjustable lumbar support; air conditioning for optimal climate control; digital dashboard for clear, easy-to-read information; and electric sockets to power accessories, including microwaves or coffee machines.

The new trucks are also said to deliver improved operational efficiency through Eco cruise control to optimise fuel consumption, reducing running costs and environmental impact.

“Therefore, running the most up-to-date, modern, and fuel-efficient Euro 6 diesel engines, fitted with AdBlue technology, allows Fernwood to operate the most sustainable diesel-powered truck available. This sustainability benefit can then be passed on to our customers.”
