news_dRenault Trucks has unveiled its complete Euro 6 range.

It has replaced the distinct Magnum and Premium families with four ranges sharing common styling and two cab shells: Distribution, Construction, Heavy Construction and Long Haul, or in Renault’s shorthand D, C, K and T.

Their common Volvo Group ancestry is fairly obvious, with the models all having equivalents in the Volvo Euro 6 ranges and common engine platforms being used. The Euro 6 Renault engine range was revealed in full at last year’s IAA Show.

Renault Trucks has also abandoned the key and growing UK market of 7.5-tonners: but this was a sector where it sold less than 135 vehicles in total last year. Transport Operator understands that a replacement 7.5 tonner using Nissan components will be offered to Renault Trucks’ UK customers at some point in 2015.

The D range is sub-divided into a 2.1 m wide narrow cab for weights of 10 – 18 tonnes and D Wide, with a 2.3 m wide cab and gross weights of 18 – 26 tonnes. Renault Trucks offers a narrow version with a choice of DTI 5 engines at 210 or 240 hp, or the DTI 8 engines at 250 or 280 hp.

The cab is available in short (Day), long (Global) or four-door (Crew) forms.

D Wide is available with the DTI8 engine only, but with an additional 320 hp rating. There are four cab options: short with standard roof height (Day); intermediate length, standard roof height (two versions: Global, and Night & Day), and a long cab with high roof and bunk (Sleeper).

The Construction range is divided into two model ranges by engine output and gross weight, with trucks of between 250 and 320 hp and 18 – 26 tonnes using the cab from the D Wide available in a similar range of variants as is found in the D range.

Renault Truck’s new flagship cab makes its first appearance in the heavy end of the Construction range, with gross weights from 18 to 33 tonnes. There are three versions of this cab offered on the C trucks: short with standard roof (Day), with bunk and standard roof (Night & Day) and with bunk and high roof (Sleeper). Renault’s two heavyweight engines are available on this truck: the DTI 11 at 380, 430 and 460 hp and the DTI 13 at 440, 480 and 520 hp.

Heavy construction applications are covered by the K range, which uses the same engines as the heavier C models, but has gross weights ranging from 18 to 50 tonnes and can handle combined weights of up to 100 tonnes. The cab is mounted higher and has better protection and a more rugged appearance than the C model’s. Just two versions of this cab are offered: the Day, and Night & Day (there is no high-roof sleeper).

The flagship T range uses the same engines as the K and heavy C. Gross vehicle weights range from 18 to 26 tonnes and combination weights from 40 to 60 tonnes. Day, Night & Day and Sleeper cabs are offered.
