Iveco expands ready-bodied range

Iveco now offers ready-bodied trucks for a wide range of specialist and general applications at gross weights of up to 32 tonnes.

The CNH subsidiary has expanded its general haulage DriveAway offering from the current 3.5-tonne Dailys and 7.5-tonne Eurocargos with rigid, dropside and curtainside bodies from JC Payne, to include box and curtainside JC Payne bodies on 12-tonne standard and low-height chassis.

Fitted tail lifts are optional on both body types. The 18-tonne Eurocargo high-roof sleeper is now available from stock with a curtainside body and tuckaway tail-lift.

Moving up into true heavy truck territory, there’s a 26-tonne Stralis curtainsider with tuckaway tail-lift and a choice of day or sleeper cabs. Careful engineering allows a 31-ft body length without chassis extensions.

Iveco is also offering temperature-controlled bodies as part of the DriveAway range for the first time. Suppliers Paneltex and Carrier Transicold are providing bodies and refrigeration equipment for trucks at 7.5, 12, 18 and 26 tonne gross weights.

Widely varying operator requirements mean that completed vehicles are not actually offered from stock, but Paneltex is pre-building bodies for outfitting to specific customer requirements. This reduces build times from 14 to just three weeks, while leaving the customer free to specify individual details such as internal compartments and loading doors.

On 18-tonne Eurocargo and 26-tonne Stralis vehicles, Iveco is offering Carrier Transicold’s new Iceland Twincool engineless refrigeration unit as standard, which runs entirely on electric power generated by a hydraulic PTO from the truck’s Euro 6 engine.  This removes the need for a separate diesel engine and lowers CO2 emissions.

Anticipating increasing demand from the construction sector, 18-tonne Eurocargos are available with a choice of Boughton, Hiab and Hyva bodywork, with various optional equipment offered post-build. These are offered alongside 7.5-tonne tippers with Brit-Tipp bodies.

Moving up the weight scale, Iveco has also introduced 32-tonne Trakker 8×4 chassis with hook-loader bodies from Boughton and Hyva, plus tippers from Abba, Boweld and Kel-berg. Tipper grabs are also available, with Palfinger Epsilon cranes.

The tippers and tipper-grabs all feature steel bodies purpose-built for the demanding demolition and muckaway roles best suited to the rugged heavy-duty Trakker chassis.

The final offering is more specialist in nature: a 16-tonne left-hand drive Eurocargo road sweeper with Johnston bodywork. Iveco hopes the market will welcome a truck with a flexible 12-speed transmission and an engine that does not require periodic forced regeneration of its particulate filter for use in this low-speed, stop-start application.

Stuart Webster, Iveco’s UK & ROI business director, said: “We are expanding the DriveAway range to ensure we can offer fleets shorter delivery times, coupled with lower costs and higher residual values. Our launch models have been specifically chosen to suit sectors where new assets can often be required at short notice, such as when a new contract comes in and the work starts almost immediately.

“With DriveAway, firms need only liaise with their local dealer, instead of co-ordinating separately with bodybuilders and ancillary equipment providers. New vehicles can be purchased on one invoice and often driven away or delivered on the same day. Plus there’s a comprehensive two-year unlimited mileage warranty covering the body and chassis – and none of the hassles surrounding whole vehicle type approval.”
