AssetGo makes maintenance easier for Cargo Express

Logistics provider Cargo Express has been benefiting from streamlined workshop scheduling and vehicle checks as a result of its adoption of the AssetGo cloud-based fleet and asset management system.

Cargo Express’ fleet is made up of a range of vehicles and assets including arctics, 7.5 and 12.5 tonne curtainsiders, trailers, vans and forklift trucks.

The company had been using a digital inspection system to carry out vehicle checks, which had limited functionality, along with other systems and manual processes to manage fleet compliance.

Cargo Express was concerned about how its systems would cope with the changes to the transport operator regulations brought on by Brexit and believed it would put them at risk. The firm was also frustrated with the limitations of its systems, particularly concerning vehicle checks and managing vehicle maintenance plans.

The company sought a single robust, comprehensive and future-proofed fleet management solution that could be used to carry out defect checks and inspections and help manage their scheduling, maintenance planning and costs. It wanted a system that would provide complete visibility of the checks being made, track assets and improve working efficiency.

Cargo Express evaluated the market and found that AssetGo’s secure cloud-based fleet and asset management system met all its requirements. It could use the system for vehicle and asset checks, defect reporting and for the scheduling of maintenance and management of the fleet budget. It also provided full visibility of the fleet’s compliance.

The firm’s varied fleet of vehicles meant it needed an easily customisable and adaptable system. The system’s drag-and-drop checklist building functionality meant the firm could easily create checklists to match its exact requirements.

AssetGo has enabled Cargo Express to consolidate its systems and gain the functionality they required to properly manage the maintenance and compliance of their fleet. The firm reports that it has been able to automate and optimise processes, reduce human error, and ensure the business remains safe and fully compliant – thereby reducing risk, liability and cost.

“Using AssetGo has made our driver daily checks process much more efficient and comprehensive,” said Neil Buckley, compliance manager at Cargo Express.

“It’s enabled us to streamline and consolidate our internal systems, with vehicle checks, defects and maintenance scheduling now all done on one platform. We now have greater transparency on fleet costs and can see exactly where fleet budget is being spent.”

He continued: “Being able to customise the vehicle checklists has significantly reduced the amount of time we spent in reading driver reports and allows us to quickly and efficiently deal with the most serious and urgent defects.

“Being able to combine our vehicle defect system with our vehicle maintenance plan has cut the workload and joined together these two key parts of our operation.”

Neil concluded: “The whole AssetGo system and app is very user-friendly and we were able to use it straight away. Any business looking for a digital system to help manage their daily checks and workshop procedures cannot fail to benefit from it.”
