Hartridge helps workshops move with the times

Workshop technology provider Hartridge has outlined how an increased interest from fleets in preventative servicing to avoid future vehicle faults may present maintenance providers with fresh opportunities to offer diagnostics services to their customers.

“A lot has changed in the last year,” said Hartridge sales and marketing director Manuel Alves.

“Your business will likely have done a complete 360 in its practices to get through this difficult time. Opening hours, man power, safety measures will be just a few of the ways you have had to change how you operate. You have different concerns today than you did a year ago. The same can be said of your customers.”

Highlighting the vital role commercial vehicles have been playing in keeping essential services moving, Manuel points out that, more than ever, fleets cannot afford vehicle downtime.

“They may be more averse to facing costly repairs so are more interested in preemptive servicing to avoid faults,” he continued.

“Diagnostics are the perfect tool to help you shift in the direction of all these new needs… offer excellent customer service, and maximise the opportunities coming through your workshop.”

Diagnostics tools are an ideal means of providing flexible add-on services, Manuel contends, thereby saving customers from expensive, unexpected bills and providing benefits such as improved performance, increased MPG, and more on-the-road time.

“Fuel injectors sit at the meeting point of two major systems: fuelling and engine. Both being healthy are critical for your customer, so adding on injector health readings to a major service can deliver tangible benefits,” he continued.

“It is easy to offer this with the Hartridge Sabre CRi Expert or Master in the workshop, which offers rapid testing, optional advanced test steps, and can also code the injector in the one test.”

Manuel also highlighted increased scrutiny around emissions, adding that diesel particulate filter (DPF) cleaning represents an ideal future-proofing investment for the workshop.

“The DPF benefits from regular diagnosis and cleaning, and the Hartridge DPF range makes it easy to regularly test the DPF back pressures, detect failed cells, and carry out non-destructive cleaning which extends the service life of the DPF,” he said.

Diagnostics are not as daunting to implement as they once were, Manuel contends, delivering returns for technicians with every use in terms of efficiency, productivity, ease of use and built-in training tools.

“From rapid ECU diagnostics like the Delphi Technologies DS Diagnostic tool to larger equipment like the Hartridge Sabre CRi Master, and larger still like the Delphi Technologies ADAS ramp, diagnostics come in all shapes and sizes covering a range of technology on a vehicle.

“They also present a huge return-on-investment potential, as a large portion of your vehicle parc can benefit from diagnostic service, investigation and repair procedures.”
