Gott adds value with vehicle lift aftersales
Gott Technical Services has reported an increased demand in vehicle lift products over recent years from commercial fleet operators and repairers.
The company offers a wide range to suit vehicles of all sizes, in addition to a full package of aftersales services.
“When sourcing products to be added to our range, we take great care to choose products that have the best mix of build quality, warranty, and value for money, but the most important thing for us is ensuring we are able to look after the products ourselves…” said managing director Ian Gott.
“[This] means we have control of the whole pre- and post- sales processes and can ensure the best service possible is provided to our clients.
“We install, maintain, and carry out any warranty work with our own directly employed engineers. We also carry out load tests.”
He added: “Our engineer services are not just limited to the lifts we sell either. We inspect, maintain, repair, and load test other lifts for our clients. Lift rope replacement is also a much-requested service.”
To ensure competency can be proved, Gotts engineers are put through the Garage Equipment Association (GEA) Lift Engineer Accreditation scheme which focuses on the requirements of BS7980 and BS EN 1493:2010, LOLER and PUWER regulations.
“We have always been proud to be members of the GEA and to work to their approved codes of practice,” said Ian.
“When they introduced the Lift Engineer Accreditation scheme some years ago we jumped at the chance to be involved. We have always known our engineers had the knowledge and experience but to have their competency confirmed and certified was an essential bonus.
“I would always recommend anybody operating lifting equipment makes sure the company they choose to service their lifts has GEA accredited engineers.”
He added: “We also assist our clients by providing toolbox talks in the safe operation and use of vehicle lifts. During these talks we cover the lift user’s responsibility for daily and monthly safety checks.
“Faulty or unsafe lift operations are not always just down to lack of maintenance. Improper use can also be a factor and it is important users know how to correctly load a lift and ensure things such as maximum axle load and minimum wheelbases are considered.”
Gotts’ range of services includes workshop layout planning and advice about the best way to fit lifts into available space, taking health and safety and effective workflow requirements into consideration. Depending on the type of work, proposals will be made as to whether fixed or mobile lifting solutions would be best.
