Morclean solutions ‘set new standards’
Chesterfield, Derbyshire-based cleaning equipment provider Morclean Ltd has highlighted the environmental credentials of its product range, as well as efficiency and cost-saving benefits.
Morclean supplies industrial and commercial cleaning equipment throughout the UK, Europe and globally. It offers a wide range of industrial vacuum cleaners, bin wash systems, and floor cleaning machines, as well as turnkey vehicle washing solutions, pressure washers, and water reclaim and storage alternatives which satisfy Section 118 of the Water Industry Act 1991.
“Effluent and overflow from vehicle washing activities can irrevocably damage the environment, and pollute watercourses and groundwater,” said Morclean innovator and managing director, Peter Morley.
“Dirt, brake dust and oils that are washed off are all classed as pollutants, while cleaning agents such as detergents and foams, traffic film remover, and acid wheel cleaner, can be harmful to both wildlife and plant life.”
He continued: “Contaminated water or overspill from vehicle washing carried out as a business or an industrial pursuit is classed as trade effluent. Whether you’re accountable for cleaning a large fleet of lorries or just one vehicle, it is essential that you only discharge contaminated outflow to the mains foul drain sewer or a suitable sewage treatment process, with consent.
“It is unlawful to dischar
ge waste to the environment, namely into surface drains, ground, ditches, streams and rivers, or the watercourse in general, even if the detergents are biodegradable.”
Morclean’s complete vehicle cleaning solution comprises three systems, including its Surface Mounted Wash Pads – said to be perfect for washing HGVs, PSV and LCVs in numerous environments including those where there are no foundations, such as multi-storey car parks and dual level parking decks, or sites where groundworks are impractical.
No civils or groundworks are required, and no items need installing below ground, says the company; the systems sit entirely on the surface and can be constructed within a matter of hours, thereby minimising working time, creating less mess, and helping to significantly reduce costs compared to traditional concrete built wash pads.
They can also be easily relocated if a change of premises is required, says Morclean, and there is no dilapidation – meaning that nothing has to be dug up and no holes filled in. Users need simply dismantle the structure and take it with them.
The company adds that its wash pads are fully compliant to the EA Guidelines and CE marked, satisfying current legislation for the containment and disposal of water.
Meanwhile, the newly launched ThermaFlow hybrid hot water steam cleaner is a low-flow machine that uses just 7.5 litres per min of water, said to offer energy-saving, environmental and efficiency benefits.
When compared to traditional equivalent jet wash that would produce between 15 and 21 litres per minute, the system uses only half or a third of the water consumption and disposal, says Morclean, resulting in reduced water for sites where drainage is limited or water reclaim is required.
Also available from Morclean is the BlueBox, which is designed to provide an economic alternative to inconvenient and expensive groundworks, eliminating the need for excavation, interceptors and tank installations.
Like the Surface Mounted Wash Pad, the BlueBox (also available in grey and green) is totally surface-mounted. Designed to replace the requirement for an interceptor, this water treatment system can be used with the 
Morclean wash pad where water is discharged to a mains foul drain.
Requiring just a power supply to operate the system, it is said to be ideal for treating the outflow of a washbay or vehicle wash without the need of a below ground interceptor. The BlueBox has one inlet from the washbay and one outlet to a mains foul drain, requires minimal installation, and is semi-portable, meaning it can be moved if the wash relocates.

Morclean also offers options of pumping chambers to reach a foul drain, automated diverter valves to reduce excess rain water falling onto the wash pad, or you can reclaim the water to recycle it for ongoing use.
