CV drivetrain product remanufacturer HL Smith Transmissions reports that it has been helping to keep the wheels of the transport industry turning amidst the demanding challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Our services to ambulance, fire, MoD and municipal vehicles, along with general transport, have continued during these difficult times thanks to the efforts of our dedicated team,” said the company.
Founded in 1955 by Harold Smith, HL Smith’s range encompasses manual and automatic gearboxes, differentials, steering boxes, prop shafts and Wabco Powerpacks, all reworked to the original manufacturer’s specifications.
Current affiliations include Wabco, Eaton, Dana Meritor and Allison, brands which HL Smith works with and supports throughout the UK aftermarket.
Based in Albrighton in the West Midlands, HL Smith employs 50 engineers at its 85,000 sq. ft workshop and storage facility, where all products are remanufactured under a strict quality system.
“Each unit undergoes several quality inspections throughout the process of rebuild and assembly before finally going into dyno test to ensure the finished product meets all OE criteria,” said the company.
“A full 12-month warranty is given with all units, and with Allison and Wabco, 24 months’ warranty is offered.”
All products are available on a service exchange basis, and alongside this, a full unit repair option is available on all items. On the Allison range, onsite engineers are available to carry out diagnostic work, and an onsite fitting service of exchange units is offered.
