Driver Hire Training meets post-Covid challenge
A new, nationwide face-to-face training service from Driver Hire Training is aiming to tackle both licence acquisition and upskilling, as well as overcoming one of the chief obstacles to any form of logistics industry training – the upfront cost.
Driver Hire Training is a division of recruitment specialist Driver Hire Nationwide. Established in 2013, the training provider highlights its credentials as a major player in the Driver CPC market, with around 190,000 driver training days delivered to date, and a 95 per cent post-course satisfaction rate.
“The pandemic has helped highlight the importance of logistics and the need for well trained, highly skilled drivers,” said Driver Hire Training director, John Keelan-Edwards.
“At the same time, the pandemic has prevented HGV driving tests taking place; there were 18,500 fewer tests in 2020 compared to 2019.
“As the economy recovers the need for drivers gets greater and greater. In addition, our customers are always seeking drivers with specialist skills such as Hiab or ADR. That’s why, alongside HGV licence acquisition, our new training offer covers Hiab, ADR, Forklift and PCV.”
A key element of Driver Hire Training’s new service is the opportunity to spread the cost of training from six months to five years.

Driver Hire Training says it is working with a network of quality providers to do the practical training, some with DVSA test centres on site.

The company’s enhanced training offer extends beyond drivers to management training courses, such as Transport Manager CPC, Transport Manager refresher courses and OLAT. Driver risk management is available through its DriveWise portfolio.
