Keep Legal Training and Consultancy Ltd is an independent training and compliance specialist, serving a broad client base ranging from owner drivers to blue chip companies.
Its training offering includes Driver CPC, HGV driver training, ADR and DGSA, Petroleum Driver Passport (PDP), SAFED (Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving), Transport Manager CPC and refresher training, operator licence awareness training, driver assessor training, manual handling, fire safety and first aid.
The company also offers a range of consultancy, auditing and compliance services, including tachograph analysis.
Keep Legal was formed by managing director Mark Shelton, who began his career in transport training and consultancy 36 years ago as a driver of 3.5-tonne vans, before receiving his Class 1 LGV licence.
“I joined United Transport Tankers, delivering chemicals, and assisted with training new drivers in company procedures. I then joined Esso as a petroleum driver and was inspired by the driver training instructor; he was an ultimate professional. Learning more about the petroleum industry, I moved on to Wincanton as a driver and delivered multiple types of fuel and chemicals.”
Mark’s ambition to become a trainer was realised when he moved to BP, progressing from driver training instructor to a member of the driver coaching team. Having gained a wide range of training experience in the petroleum and chemical industry, he was asked to work with one of the largest training companies in Essex as a senior instructor, where he developed his teaching skills and knowledge in transport legislation and compliance.
In 2014, Mark formed Keep Legal. As a senior transport consultant and an Earned Recognition auditor, he is the professional lead for compliance services at the company, which is CILT, SQA, DVSA, Qualsafe and ISO 9001 accredited.

“We have become a highly successful and well regarded transport training company within the industry… Training services are tailored to meet our clients’ specific needs. I have developed a bespoke driving assessor course, and one of my biggest achievements is creating a training package for driver training instructors in the petroleum industry that is certificated by the National Open College Network (NOCN).”
