Air conditioning expertise from Valeo
Vehicle technology provider Valeo is supporting operators and commercial vehicle workshops through its air conditioning offering for both light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and trucks, while also reminding them about the importance of regular system maintenance.
“As one of the world’s leading specialists in air conditioning and cabin filtration systems, Valeo provides complete LCV and truck product ranges in this area,” said Valeo Service UK managing director Andy Swann.
This includes a full range of garage tools accessories, and consumables, backed up by training and technical support.
Thanks to its knowledge of AC loop design, Valeo provides a wide range of components for LCVs. This includes ventilation blowers, accumulators, evaporators, pressure switches, expansion valves, actuators, heater cores, compressors, condensers, cabin air filters, cabin air purifiers and more. The range also includes control electronics and sensors.
Meanwhile, Valeo’s air conditioning range for trucks includes cabin air filters, cabin air purifiers and compressors.
While filters will be logged as regular service items, other parts of the system also require periodic replacement, including receiver driers, which Valeo says should be replaced every three years.
“Receiver driers protect all of the other parts of the AC loop,” said Andy.
The receiver drier will also need to be replaced if the circuit is opened for any reason.
“For example,” said Andy, “the drier must be replaced if the condenser is damaged. In this situation, the desiccator will no longer retain the humidity in the circuit and will become saturated with humidity as a result.”
If the receiver drier is not replaced, says Valeo, the functioning of the loop will deteriorate and operators risk a breakdown as a result of a blocked expansion valve or impurities in the circuit.
On fitment, Andy added: “The receiver drier must always be installed in the loop at the very last moment, just before the vacuum procedure.”
For both LCVs and trucks, Valeo’s air conditioning offering is also supported by its ClimFill air con refill stations and Valeo ClimPur air conditioning cleaners.
