HB Commercial takes more Krone skeletal trailers
HB Commercial, the Ipswich-based vehicle service, parts, rentals, and sales group, has added a further consignment of Krone skeletal trailers to its rental fleet. The company says the move further strengthens its position as one of the largest single providers of Krone container carriers in the UK.
With five strategically located depots in Ipswich (headquarters), Harwich, Felixstowe, Bury St Edmunds, and Witham, HB Commercial is well positioned to support commercial vehicle operators throughout East Anglia and the Southeast, including the busy ferry ports of Harwich and Felixstowe. The group also looks after operators running Krone trailers across the region, offering full fleet support.
“We were among the first to use Krone’s Box Liner skeletal trailers,” said Jono Scott, head of business development at HB Commercial.
“Because of their flexible loading and ability to easily handle tough pick-up-and-drop ferry work, demand over the last five or six years has remained strong.”
Manufactured by Krone in Germany, the Box Liner was designed with close involvement from the Krone UK sales team to ensure compatibility with UK and Irish market requirements.
Its sliding chassis, with 10-tonne impact resistant underrun bumper, can be quickly adjusted to carry any standard-sized dry freight or tank container, ensuring fast and efficient operation.
The trailers are also equipped with Krone telematics and TPMS (Tyre Pressure Management System) to aid real-time diagnostics and allow corrective action to be taken promptly, reducing downtime and operating costs.
According to Krone, the result is a no-nonsense specification with a 10-year guarantee against corrosion perforation, built for loading flexibility, asset management control, and long-term durability.
Optional Krone Telematics packages enable HB Commercial and their customers to monitor tyre pressures, mileage for maintenance scheduling, empty or reduced-load miles, braking system status, and trailer location. Automatic notifications can alert operators to ABS or EBS issues and ensure remedial work is completed promptly.
“We have a long-term supply arrangement with Krone,” added Jono.
“With each new trailer consignment comes a high standard of product and service. For these trailers, whether for rental or purchase, we supply literally all the backup services required: Krone spare parts, gen sets, MOT, maintenance, refurbs, accident repairs, tyres, and trailer washing, and all under one roof!”
