Durite: how connected AI technology can help boost safety
The increasing use of connected and AI-enabled technology is giving commercial vehicle operators new opportunities to identify risk earlier, support drivers and improve safety across their fleets, according to vehicle safety specialist Durite.
The company recently launched Durite Live AI, an AI-powered fleet management platform which combines live vehicle tracking, AI-enabled video telematics, driver behaviour analysis and predictive fleet insights within a single connected ecosystem.
According to Durite, the technology reflects a broader change in the way fleet operators are approaching road safety. Rather than relying solely on reviewing incidents after they have occurred, AI can help operators identify potentially unsafe behaviour and developing risks in real time, allowing earlier intervention.
“Connected safety technologies are becoming an increasingly important part of modern fleet management,” said Vidwan Algoo, fleet technology manager at Durite.
“AI-enabled systems can provide operators with valuable real-time insight into driver behaviour, road conditions and operational risks, allowing earlier intervention and improved decision-making across the fleet.”
Durite Live AI uses AI to analyse driver behaviour and trip data in real time. The platform can detect potential risks, prioritise alerts and provide tailored driver coaching, helping fleet managers concentrate on the events requiring the greatest attention rather than having to review large volumes of routine data.
Its capabilities include AI Risk Detection, Driver Monitoring, Trip Binding driver coaching, First Notice of Loss reporting and an integrated 24/7 AI Assistant.
Privacy is also an important consideration as the use of video-based safety technology increases, says Durite. The platform therefore incorporates features including automatic face pixelation and mosaic blurring of individuals where appropriate, helping operators support their privacy policies and GDPR compliance while retaining the evidential value of recorded footage.
The platform can also form part of a wider connected vehicle safety strategy. Durite’s portfolio includes driver monitoring systems, wireless AI camera kits, AI Low Bridge Detection, camera monitoring systems and other vehicle safety technologies.
Durite says interest from operators following the launch of Live AI at Road Transport Expo has come from across the haulage, logistics, utilities, recovery, construction and municipal sectors.
“We met organisations at every stage of their fleet technology journey, from operators looking to introduce AI for the first time to those seeking a more integrated approach to fleet safety and operational management,” added Vidwan Algoo.
“The level of engagement reinforces the growing recognition that connected technologies can deliver significant benefits across compliance, driver welfare, operational efficiency and risk management.”
