V-Tech keeps brake testing flexible for Omega Travel

vtechomegaCommercial vehicle workshop equipment supplier V-Tech UK has recently installed a BM20200 mobile roller brake tester at the Milton Keynes depot of tour operator Omega Travel, in order to help the company ensure that its coach fleet’s braking systems are operating at optimum levels.

Manufactured in Denmark and approved to Garage Equipment Association and TUV standards for ATF and ATL facilities, V-Tech says the mobile BM20200 provides greater flexibility than in-ground roller brake testing options, while also negating the need for civil works.

V-Tech has produced a video of the equipment in situ at Omega Travel, demontrating the functionality of the brake tester, which can be viewed below.

Benefits highlighted include an axle testing weight of up to 20 tonnes; a PC workstation loaded with BM FlexCheck software which automates the test procedure; and easy movement and setup, which V-Tech says takes around 10 minutes on average for a single technician.

Once set up, the tester simply follows the on-screen prompts to test each axle. The software can be controlled with tablet or smartphone devices via Wi-Fi connection, meaning that the entire process can be completed without the technician having to leave the vehicle.

The BM20200 unit is suitable for use on tarmac or concrete floors, as well as uneven surfaces including gravel, sand, dirt and snow – with its terrain flexibility resulting in deployment by NATO for the brake testing of military vehicles with the US army in Afghanistan.

“Below-ground clearance of the rollers – just 160mm – means that the ramp length can be kept to a minimum,” said V-Tech marketing manager Will Ambler-Shaw. “Each ramp being just 1.25 metres in length leaves a low requirement for floor space in which to set the tester up.

“This hard-wearing and versatile mobile roller brake tester is a fantastic alternative for any test station not wanting to install the in-ground version.”
