Blackburn-based electric truck manufacturer Electra Commercial Vehicles says it is gearing up to amplify productivity with an impending move to a new state-of-the-art facility in Brighouse.

“At the heart of Electra’s innovation lies a sophisticated modular powertrain design, unlocking boundless possibilities for customisation in electric trucks,” said the company.

The company engineers bespoke solutions tailored to the global market, collaborating with industry leaders like Mercedes-Benz, Iveco, Isuzu, and Dennis Eagle to integrate electric drivetrains into their glider chassis.

“Unlike conventional manufacturers constrained by fixed configurations, Electra offers a spectrum of battery pack options and wheelbase lengths, empowering clients with unparalleled flexibility,” it added.

Electra’s modular chassis seamlessly adapts to any body style, says the company, whether it’s a box truck for deliveries, a refrigerated body for perishables, sweeper or a waste collection vehicle.

“This level of customisation represents a paradigm shift, enabling fleets and businesses to seamlessly integrate electric trucks into their operations, regardless of industry or application,” said Electra.

Electra’s modular ethos isn’t just about flexibility; it’s about efficiency.”

By leveraging existing glider chassis designs, Electra is able to streamline manufacturing, it says, ensuring scalability to meet the surging demand for sustainable transportation solutions.

“This emphasis on efficiency delivers environmental benefits and enhances cost-effectiveness, making electric trucks an appealing option for a broader spectrum of businesses.”

As Electra prepares to transition to its new facility in Brighouse, the company says its order book is rapidly expanding. It is also exploring artificial intelligence (AI) for predictive maintenance purposes, in order to minimise downtime and optimise efficiency.

“The move to Brighouse isn’t merely about meeting demand; it’s about nurturing an environment where creativity thrives,” said the firm.

“This expansion promises to not only bolster production capacity but also foster innovation, ensuring that Electra remains at the vanguard of electric trucking innovation.”
