Fuel Theft Solutions has added a new app to its portfolio of products and services, which is designed to aid freight crime prevention.

The company cites figures suggesting that over 4,000 freight and cargo crimes were reported in the UK last year, and that such activity costs the haulage sector around £95 million annually.

It highlights a range of security incidents that can occur while vehicles are parked up overnight, including fuel and cargo theft, curtain damage and theft of trailers.

The SafePark app from Fuel Theft Solutions is an interactive tool for operators and drivers alike. Information on crime hotspots and places to avoid are updated daily, and users can record any crime of which they’re a victim, adding to the information available for all to see.

Specialist Snap account parking locations are visible, as well as driver friendly information on all services and roadside cafes.

The app is affordable and easy to use and install, says Fuel Theft Solutions, providing fleet operators with control and peace of mind.

The company points to research on its Facebook HGV theft site, which has shown how keen drivers are to let others know of crime hotspots and where is safe to park at night. SafePark is said to provide the information they need to make an informed choice.

Geoff Reyner, SafePark account manager, said: “It is horrifying to see the level of crimes across the UK. As someone who has worked across fuel theft prevention for many years, it is comforting to give drivers and operators some peace of mind with this easy-to-use app.

“It must be hard to sleep in the cab knowing that criminals are lurking outside, often in gangs, ready to steal from the vehicle.”

Fuel Theft Solutions also assists fleets in combating theft with a range of diesel dyes and fuel protection devices.
