Ctrack secondary tracker boosts security

Ctrack by Inseego is launching a tracking tool that it says can provide an added layer of protection against commercial vehicle theft.

The battery-powered device connects to an existing hardwired telematics solution via Bluetooth, only activating should the primary tracking unit be removed or tampered with. As a result, says the company, transport operators can gain added peace of mind that their fleet is safe and secure.

“The threat of commercial vehicle crime is still very real, with thieves continually seeking ways of getting round existing security measures,” explained Steve Thomas, managing director of Ctrack by Inseego.

“It is not a secret that many commercial vehicles are now tracked, which increases the risk that a hardwired solution will be discovered and removed. This new battery-powered unit will help transport operators stay one step ahead of both organised and opportunistic criminals.”

The tracking unit measures just 118mm by 63mm, so can be concealed discreetly anywhere within the vehicle cab away from prying eyes. Because the device is dormant until activated, it possesses low power usage, while the IP67 casing protects against dust and water.

The status of this secondary unit can be monitored through Ctrack Online, the web-based telematics software, and includes triggered alarms for any potential issues and threats.

Ctrack offers a range of wireless tracking solutions said to be ideal for use in all commercial vehicles, as well as non-powered assets including trailers, containers and even cargo.

The ultra-compact size and lightweight design of these units means they are easily fitted and concealed, says the company, whatever the tracking requirement. These devices can also be combined with Ctrack’s entire telematics offering for complete visibility and control through a single online software platform.
