Rozone puts parts cleaning in the spotlight

Workshop equipment provider Rozone has described the features and benefits of its eco-friendly, bioremediating Rowasher parts cleaning technology.

The company emphasises the importance of balancing the need to deal with oils and grease in vehicle workshops with the imperative to reduce the use of harsh chemicals in the parts cleaning process, safeguarding staff and lessening the environmental impact.

“When energy costs remain cripplingly high and we all clamour for low energy consumption in the workshop environment, there is still a demand for excellent cleaning quality, pollution control, improved efficiencies and reduced operating costs,” said Rozone.

“This is a big ask when we try to solve the issues of workshop oil and grease.  Or is it?”

The company cites internally conducted controlled laboratory trials undertaken this year, which it says suggested that the machine outclassed other parts cleaners tested. Because of Rowasher’s Eco Mode, it uses 54.5 per cent less energy than Rozone’s previous parts washer and costs 40p per day in energy costs (this can vary according to energy fluctuations), says the company.

In addition, it needs considerably lower volumes of fluid each year versus other parts washers (the best performing competitor uses 33 per cent more fluid, the company reports, while the worst performing competitor uses 90 per cent more fluid). The fluid and filter costs are said to be lower than other parts washers and 30 per cent improved on the previous Rozone machine.

The three-way system of Rowasher parts cleaning machine, Rowash degreasing fluid and the microbial filter mat, is specifically designed to cater for the standard oils, greases and fluids that are found on all automotive workshop dirty parts,” said the company.

“The machine heats the fluid to 42° to release the most hardened filth and washes parts clean. It is pleasant to use and contains no harmful vapours or VOCs, it is solvent free and PH neutral.”

The machine is also said to assist with ISO14001 compliance.

“The microbial filter mat is where the magic happens,” said Rozone.

“200 million microbes are encapsulated in each filter mat and when they are released into the system, they break down or ‘eat’ the oil and grease and turn it all into harmless carbon dioxide and water. This leaves the fluid clean for every use and reduces the need for any hazardous, costly waste disposal….

“Aerosols, sprays, rags and brushes can be expensive, and the vapour can pose inhalation risks for the user, cause a mess and end up in the waste bin.

“Traditional solvent part washers usually involve long-term expensive service contracts, use flammable solvents that increase the risk of fire hazards and are typically only good for cleaning unfinished metal parts, and usually leave a residue on the surface of the part needing cleaning.”

The system uses water-based biodegradable surfactants and offers significant benefits to the environment, says Rozone, as well as having proven appeal with technicians. It is safe to use on all metals, painted parts, coated parts, chrome, rubber and plastic.

“Using this bioremediating parts washer, workshops have an industrial-strength cleaning solution that keeps both the technicians and the environment safe from harmful chemicals,” the company added.

“With tens of thousands of users across Europe, it is the smarter way to clean parts and equipment.”

Further benefits highlighted include simplified CoSHH reporting.
