Lymm Truckwash set to expand

Lymm Truckwash Ltd has announced plans to expand its business to meet demand from customers, which the company says will also create an additional eight jobs for local people.

Lymm Truckwash washes more than 60,000 trucks a year for customers throughout the UK and across Europe, ranging from owner-drivers to major fleet operators such as DHL, Manfreight, BM Transport, Hoyer, XPO and GXO.

The company is in the process of submitting plans to add three additional washes to the four existing ones. This will not only help to increase vehicle capacity and remove trucks from the A50, says the firm, but also create jobs to widen the team.

Still family-owned and managed, Lymm Truckwash was first opened by husband-and-wife team John and Anne Cardwell in 1967.

In 2014, daughter Laura Cardwell became a director of the firm, later buying the business in 2018 when her parents retired. Laura took the reins at a key turning point in the company’s history, as it invested £2.3million in relocating to a new, purpose-built site at Poplar Park, just 100 metres from its previous base at Lymm Services, near Warrington.

Lymm Truckwash says the relocation enabled it to offer an even better experience for drivers due to the installation of state-of-the-art equipment and point of sale system at a more convenient site, as well as to secure the long-term future of the company’s staff and their families.

Now, following reported huge demand for the company’s wash services, the team is looking forward to being able to accommodate customers’ requirements and process them more quickly.

“These are really exciting times as we continue to expand the business to the meet the demand of our customers and provide them with the best possible service,” said Laura Cardwell.

“In January and February the demand was so high we saw a queue out of the gate every day. The additional three washes will increase our capacity and remove trucks from queuing on the A50, which is a dangerous hazard for all users of the highway and therefore needs urgently addressing and resolving. Providing three more washes is the solution and it will also create more jobs for the area as we launch a recruitment drive to add to our team.

“We’re always listening to our drivers and how we can support them and have recently installed a low-cost snack shack with a range of non-perishable items to keep them going on the road.”

Laura added: “This is our 56th year of Lymm Truckwash trading and we’re proud of the service we continue to provide. This year we’ll be at a range of truck shows, including the Truckfest events in Peterborough, Edinburgh and Knutsford, as well as Whitchurch Truck Show where visitors can come and say hello and learn more about the truck and road haulage industry.”
