VBG smart couplings drive up safety
Components provider VBG has detailed the benefits of its coupling, underrun protection and snow chain products.
“As the leading vehicle drawbar coupling manufacturer with over 70 years’ experience our latest smart generation coupling builds on our tradition of quality and refined mechanics with the addition of new digital technology which further increases safety and reliability,” said the company.
“The new electrical architecture builds a system of functions and communication around the coupling.
“Digital technology also makes it possible to integrate the coupling into the truck’s instrument cluster, and to directly connect new functions to the CAN bus without separate cabling (plug-and-play).”
The firm additionally supplies complete, flexible underrun protection systems designed for a variety of vehicle types, frame widths and installation needs.
“We offer systems that cover R58.02 for small series and individual type approvals and R58.03 which came into force in September 2019 for whole vehicle type approvals,” said the company.
VBG also offers the Onspot automatic snow chains system.
“On icy and slippery road conditions Onspot is activated by the driver, from the cab – ideal for emergency vehicles, public transport, or commercial vehicle haulage vehicles.”
