Sliding solutions from Versus-UK

Components provider Versus-UK offers a range of sliding tarpaulin and roof systems for trailer applications.

These include the Versus Penta Slider System. Said to be easy to use and quick to open, the tarpaulin system slides both at the top and bottom in an aluminium rail.

The Penta Slider owes its name to the roller specifically developed for this system. The roller, equipped with five wheels, ensures that the side tarpaulin slides smoothly through both rails in a wave motion, folding very tightly during opening. Unlike a traditional sliding tarpaulin system, the Versus Penta Slider system works without buckles.

“Gone are the days of holding onto wind-blown tarpaulins and tightening dirty buckles,” said Versus-UK.

“The Penta Slider Systems combine all possible sliding tarpaulin and sliding roof variations in one concept: a quick and comfortable slider system on one side, a traditional sliding tarpaulin or fixed wall on the other side, and even a sliding roof on top if desired. A Penta Slider, a Trike sliding tarpaulin and a Versus sliding roof can all be combined; the many combination possibilities make a multifunctional truck body possible.”

The Versus Penta Slider System is available in four versions.

For trailers up to 13.6m, Versus offers the Penta Wave, a slider system with reinforced mini stakes that meets the EN 12642 XL standard for load securing.

The Penta Wave-Swing is the newest addition to the Penta Wave family. The entire sliding tarpaulin can be moved all the way to the front of the trailer. This makes the loading space fully accessible, for fast and easy loading and unloading.

The Penta Wave Axces offers the advantages of the Penta Wave, combined with a lift roof and the option of elevated driving.

Finally, the Penta City has been specifically developed for sustainable city distribution and short vehicles up to 8.5m.

The most recent developments in the range include a new folding system with ‘the Bottle’, for better and easier folding; the Penta City 4, which has all the advantages of the Penta City 2, but features a new built-in hook lock; and the Penta Flex, offering a solution for short vehicles up to 8.5 m that are narrower at the top than the chassis.

Meanwhile, the range of Versus sliding roofs are said make loading and unloading long goods easy.

“Transport companies can choose between a traditional rear-to-front sliding roof or the Versus Twin – double-ended opening – sliding roof,” said the company.

“Versus also has its own patented solution for transport under customs seal – TIR, an easy and quick way through customs with a completely sealed load.

“Versus listens to the trucker and believes that safety, ergonomics and modern trucks and trailers should go hand in hand. That’s why Versus designed the Trike system. The modern Versus sliding tarpaulin roofs are equipped with the patented Trike rollers, making the opening of side curtains a breeze.

“Trike rollers have an extra horizontal steel roller at the top that ensures the tarpaulins slide easily and never jam. Unlike other systems, the vertical plastic rollers – regardless of the tension on the sliding tarpaulin – cannot deform or get damaged: our active contribution to road safety. For each type of vehicle and for every length, we offer the right Trike rail… Pulling and tugging are things of the past.”

Versus added: “The patented red folding plate with Omega shape automatically bends upwards when opening the roof. The omega shape is only slightly elastic and compressible, making the folding plate almost unbreakable. It is available in no fewer than six different lengths so that all combinations are possible. The folding plates are very easy to mount in the slots of the roof eyes. The Versus sliding roof fits on various aluminium profiles, allowing endless combinations.”

A fixed roof can be mounted on all the company’s aluminium profiles. The assembly depends on the type of rail: with monobolts, so that the roof eyes of the fixed roof are riveted to the aluminium profile; or a screwed assembly where the roof eyes are screwed to the aluminium profile using nut plates and bolts.

A Carapax roof tarpaulin is also available, which is said to help mitigate serious accidents due to loss of load on the roads.

“The composite fibre reinforced roof tarpaulin works like a turtle shell over a trailer,” said Versus.

“It helps to strengthen the superstructure, so that the EN 12642 XL standard is met. This standard encourages the trailer builder and parts manufacturer to develop new and better products for a stronger and safer trailer. The Carapax roof tarpaulin can be recognised on the inside by the diagonal line structure.”
