news_lEastern counties Scania dealer TruckEast has invested in an innovative vehicle to serve within its expanding recovery services division.

The efficient plastic-bodied recovery truck, which was on display at this year’s CV Show, is one of only two of its kind in the UK.

TruckEast teamed up with vehicle body specialist Strongs Plastics, and Lincolnshire lifting equipment supplier P&D Cosby, to breathe new life into an accident-damaged Scania chassis. A new cab was fitted, with chassis and paintwork completed by TruckEast’s Wellingborough bodyshop.

Meanwhile the all-plastic body, supplied and fitted by Strongs, ensures that the vehicle will have a longer-life span, TruckEast says, with reduced annual fuel costs.

truckeast_baThe body, which has been designed to require no routine maintenance, was constructed from a 100 per cent recyclable, chemical-resistant co-polymer, chosen to improve visibility by reflecting light inside the body, and to absorb significant impacts without cracking or denting.

The material, combined with innovative design features, helped achieve significant weight savings. Should repair be required, sections of the body can be easily cut out and replacements welded in, without affecting the overall strength.

The new Scania brings the TruckEast recovery fleet to two heavy and one light recovery vehicle, plus a low-loader trailer, for recovery of all types of trucks, buses and coaches.

TruckEast has 12 main dealer points across eastern England, offering a range of aftersales support including nationwide breakdown coverage, recovery, service and maintenance, accident repair, parts and accessories.

In addition, the company offers specialist repair and servicing of tail lifts and tankers, ATF facilities at Wellingborough and Stowmarket, curtain and shutter door repairs, mobile trailer servicing and on-site weight testing. It also specialises in double-deck trailers.
